This statue, in a temple, is believed to have a special power.

People wait in a long queue to ‘touch’ this statue, though this

‘touch’ may not be so subtle. First people pour the water on the

statue and then wipe the water with the white clothes. What I hear is

that the corresponding body part of yours where the statue was

touched/wiped by you will be healthy or healed (if it was not in good

health).

i used to make these lotus lanterns in my childhood. couldnt find any

discarded lantern after the event as most people seemed to bring back

what they made during the event.

lotus lantern festival: it was an all-day event in celebration of the

coming buddha’s birthday (equivalent to Christmas). In Korea, both

Christmas and Buddha’s birthday are national holidays - fair, isnt it?

its may 5th this year (based on lunar calendar). am looking forward to

visiting my grandma’s temple in my hometown.
