within the short time period i was passing by, i saw many people asking to take pictures with these ‘actors’. They seemed happy to follow suit and that’s the moment when the inanimate character could show the action. Disguising to be someone else without revealing their own identity, i guess its an overstatement to say this is driven by social motivation. Rather, it enables a different social experience. I thought kosupure was a bygone trend but definitely not (like those goth kids in finland).

A little early at meiji jingume, i could still kids preparing for the ’show’. This boy was putting makeup behind the red mirror, which is exactly same kind of mirror i saw the third time used by someone on the street. The mirror is huge and not anything like the princess-style-anna-sui-mirror, but i guess its most practical.
