imobile - a local mobile phone manufacturer - does not seem to have
any reluctance whatsoever in making copies of any popular mobile
phones of other companies.

‘Symbian up program’
i asked a lady what it was
she checked my phone (she didnt know much about the phone but managed
to do well marketing). she said “you dont have IT”. she took me to a
guy with a laptop playing puzzle games. they ‘up programmed’ my phone
by getting a 1GB memory card, copying everything from my existing
card’s content, games/themes/ring tones of this guy’s choices, and
lots of maps & apps in Thai. not so useful for me, but i am sure lots
of local people might find it attractive.
the guy in the picture is trying to set all the installations on the
phone once copying is done. his fingers moved like magic - so fast!

the only thing she could say was “this is good, this is bad”
but it was nice to be able to sit down with her on the street and
think about life a little.

might be because of the (design) biased group of local guides we had -
was surprised how posh restaurants were in bangkok.
of course i guess the space design is important since even the worst
food tastes rather good in thailand.
