a country or so
2005.10.24 - 22:10Waiting at japanese embassy. The first look at the country info counter shows me two brochures of the same content which read on the cover: ‘history of the name “sea of japan”- the name is geographically and historically established and is currently used all over the world, except for a country or so claiming that the name should be changed to the “east sea”. The claim, which requires a change from “japan sea” to “east sea”, has a lack of rationale. This change will cause confusion in international geographical order. This pamphlet is presented to provide the grounds for japan’s stance on this.’ by ministry of foreign affairs of japan. Have sweden and finland fought over the name of the sea between them? I like learning history and discussing over it but dont want to bother about hair-splitting fights over pseudo-scientific facts. I know its important, but its just not for me.
