Mushroom picking in the forest. My favorite target, stone mushrooms are quite rare today. Finnish forests are lovely: they are close to cities, safe, and full of life. However gotta pay for the visit with generous donation of blood to mosquitoes in summer time.

good start of the day. Dentist did not show up at 8am appointment. Came to police station to submit my residence permit, but it’s moved to a far far away place. Since a day without meetings is rare nowadays, i decided to go on the adventure trip to north pole anyway. (malmi is actually in northern helsinki, not quite an arctic city)

realized how lazy i am – which in a way proves how destructive(?) an addictive mobile app could be. some photos i always wanted to collect here:
this is my sister’s beloved cat, ’summer’ boy.
my favorite pictures of summer
(but please note that normally he’s a very elegant and handsome blue russian)

Not really relevant to today’s happenings, but since i cant fall asleep easily tonight & am too lazy to play w my book or laptop- decided to play w my phone. For those lobster-lovers out there, it might look quite pathetic to even try to crack open the tiny crayfish for the unnoticeable amount of meat inside (my childhood memory from korea tells me that crayfish is something you catch for fun, not as food). However for whatever environmental/dietary reasons, swedish people had to have it (as it seems) and over time managed to come up with a cultural ritual attractive enough to make crayfish eating a seasonal festivity: singing and drinking hard booze inbetween each crayfish eaten. I’m a huge fan of local seasonal food, mostly for their natural excellence in terms of taste and freshness. With crayfish, i see an escalation of food substance transformed into tool, or sacrifice for the cultural ritual. Shown in the pic: sacrifices of different sizes and origins.

thank you very much microsoft!
coming back from internet-less 1-month holiday, my hotmail account got re-set
(when was the rule created?)
1 new email from msn
is all i got there
i was using it mostly for the junk mail basket anyway
but there were ‘emotionally important’ emails from family and friends (some of who are no longer in contact) since 1997 especially when i was on transit!
it’s apparent that getting a stable, usable permanent web-based email seems to be quite difficult for free
been using younghee.com email forwarding addresses for many years but lately i found many emails sent to those addresses are bounced back to the sender without ever reaching me
is it being pretentious of me to think that losing an electronic memento which was never cared for is sad?
emotionally important things are not necessarily always in contact with our daily lives. rather it’s like the deposit in the safe – to know that ‘it’s there’ is enough. to the contrary, to know that it’s gone to the waste basket of ms’ hotmail server is enough to piss me off for one day.
hitto! hitto! hitto!
