A postit note left at a closed guitar shop. I thought those who play cricket were like living fossils..
I’m always bad at finding my ways around, yet i’ve always managed to come across this little cart whenever i visited amsterdam. I didnt mark the map this time either- it’s a small thing to expect next time.
Well, all science museums or most of natural science museums operate on mock-ups, but this crosses the fine line: rembrandt house museum. The house was occupied by the artist some decades after which it had to be sold due to his economic problem. The house only has his etching works. The rest? Restoration and placement of oldish-looking objects. It doesnt matter that the ‘real’ objects are not filling the space or how much part of the house is restoration out of fantasy work. What matters is to provide the wide audience with an experience to take time to imagine the world of the famed artist and 17th century dutch life. The brand makes the fantasy works, relatively easily without requiring too much marketing investment.
Accidental find. It was closed but could see very well what’s inside.
Note: photo is a street corner near r-l-d. Didnt take red light photos cuz of pimps and for the ladies at work.
One week before the adventure in eastern europe, amsterdam was chosen as a practice city. Most of my trips since 1997 were sort of business related, or at least had a clear purpose. Due to the clean+safe+slow environment in helsinki, i thought i would need a preview exercise before going into hardcore interrailing mode. First day started nicely. I could practice dodging several wacky people approaching, chitchatted w locals at shops, strolled thru streets with maps and a backpack. One noteworthy thing is that i saw multiple business deals made at red light shops before noon (on sunday). Could have been curious tourists. Unimaginable sunday activity for church goers.
He (or she) looks cute, but would really have liked to offer him mouth freshner or chewing gum. Now that i can ride bicycle properly, planning to bike when weather’s promisingly good all day.
Desperate. He takes out the cigarette kit and roll one too quickly for the speed of the tram ride. He impatiently puts the roll in his mouth.
Near exit/entrance of ubiquitous ah grocery chain shop. To list items sold in the same machine: shaver, aa battery, toothbrush, postal stamp, public transportation ticket, and condom. It’s not clear whether these are selected due to the frequency of demand or some other reason.
What is the secret of dutch farming to make berries super-sized, and so cleanly packed? No GM? Same wonder goes to dutch champignon mushrooms, among other things.
